Watch the market action in the global equity markets and the US dollar on Sunday night and into the opening on Monday. If the global stock markets continue to move lower early next week, it can put pressure on the grain and livestock futures markets in the US on Monday. I would not be surprised to see the S&P futures up or down by 50 points or more on Sunday night.

Watch the extended weather forecasts. The trade is expecting corn planting to be at 80-85% complete on Monday. Now concern is growing about cool wet conditions and possible slow emergence. The forecasts look very cool and wet through the third week of May. Large areas of the NW part of the Corn Belt may get 1-3 inches of snow this weekend.

Watch corn exports  After lagging behind USDA projections for the last few months, corn exports were huge this week at 70 million bushels. The current projection from the USDA calls for 1.9 billion bushels in exports. Odds favor a higher number in one of the future USDA Supply-Demand reports, as corn export demand has kicked into high gear.
